Basing with Clay

by Assistant Doc Monstro

With minimal skill it is possible to use the kids modeling clay that can be found in most craft mart places-- the kind that hardens at 350 in the oven.  Lead will soften at this temperature and plastic will simply melt.  However, modeling clay of this kind can really be used to make some interesting ground terrain.  I personally have a keeper of secrets busting out of the ground on some kind of chaos altar thanks to this stuff, and believe me, I have no sculpting talent whatsoever.  Also, the clay rolled into long "snakes" is perfect for adding bas-relief to miniatures.  Needless to say, if you make banners out of tin foil, you can do some amazing things with bas relief.  I use Premo and it costs about 3.00 (if I remember right) for a 2 oz. block, and it comes in multiple colors.
