Technical Pens

By Assistant Doc Todd

Detailing Miniatures can be so time consuming. After seeing the idea about the Magic Wash I played with that for a while.  Nice idea. A while back I got some Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph technical pens.  I'd read on Golden Paint's website (they make the best paint in the world by the way. Oops, there goes a secret of mine).  Anyway, the airbrush colors they have state they will work in technical pens...  I never got much of a chance to play around with that and someone in product support suggested no nibs smaller than .30.

Anyway, I guess the bottom line, is that I've taken the best of both ideas and got some amazing results. I've used as small as a .25, but seems to take a while to get the ink to flow and don't know if I'll run into problems with clotting.  The .30 that I use works really great.  Nice flow, good lines. (I use these on Ral Partha's Battletech 'Mechs by the way...but that's just a starter since I just started painting again)  After the first of the year I'll have a significant amount of free time and will hopefully be able to post a significant body of work.
