The Eyriss Project

When it comes to miniature games I tend to play with models I like, rather than base my army choices on their abilities. No mystery then of the staggering amount of chalk lines in my "loss" column. Case in point, Eyriss for Warmachine. Most would consider her indispensable for any force, but I could never get past to looks of the model. With the huge hood, odd stance, and a cloak thick enough to choke a hippo, I could never bring myself to place her on the battlefield. However, I have recently decided to concede to pressure and field Eyriss, but I would do it in my own way.

8/01/06 - The first step is easy; cutting the heck out of Eyriss. The head and most of the cloak was removed with a jewelry saw. After removing her head I noticed a problem. In the leaning back position, her head was positioned far forward on her chest. Since I was planning to repositioning her upright, I would need to move the new head back to her shoulders. This would mean I needed to add a neck and upper chest. Not a big deal, really. Just unexpected.

The new elf head for this conversion is from a Reaper Warlord miniature. At the moment I have yet to decide if I will replace the arms. We shall see as the project gets going.

8/03/06 - Now the final pose should be a bit more evident. Eyriss will be spinning away and shooting her target at the same time.

The base is made of two pieces of slate, dried and broken epoxy putty. The body has been pinned and glued to the base, and the Reaper head onto her shoulders.

The paper clip pins coming from the cloak gives you a rough idea of shape of the cloak. The pins will help support the epoxy putty cloak. The exact shape of the cloak will not be defined until I start the putty work.
