Specialties Figure Case
Over
many years I have seen people transporting their armies around in everything
imaginable. Several figure cases, cardboard boxes, bags, baskets, luggage, metal
toolboxes, and milk carton crates. I've been asked numerous times by these people
to recommend a better figure case. I have one word for you guys: Doskocil!
Doskocil cases are sold as gun or accessory cases, but have found a niche with
miniature painters and gamers. Their solid two piece construction with metal
reinforced hinges, sliding latches with optional key locks, and reversible flat
or egg crate foam inserts, make them last for a lifetime of gaming. They are a definite
bargain for under twenty dollars. The only problem with them is that until now people
who prefer slotted foam were stuck using cheaply constructed and hard to find
Chessex cases, or the more expensive Games Workshop figures cases. Terrain
Specialties has solved this dilemma by making custom slotted foam inserts
designed specifically for Doskocil cases.

Slotted foam is a better option for
transporting delicate figures that may be damage by being squished between
standard solid foam layers. These Foundry Vikings with attached metal
spears need the extra protection of a slotted case. |
 |
Terrain Specialties cases are the exact same Doskocil
cases that I live by and recommend, but with three layers of slotted foam with
40
slots each, enough space for 120 figures! That's 10 more than the similar Games
Workshop figure cases, yet at a cheaper price. For those that prefer the option
of using flat or slotted foam, the cases come with the cut foam blocks still inserted,
so you can remove to use the slots, or replace them if you wanted to use the
case as a standard flat foam Doskocil case. The foam can also be cut to make
larger slots for larger figures.
Now there is no reason not to use Doskocil cases.
Whatever your preference, be it solid foam or slotted, the durable construction
and affordable price makes Doskocil case a must for any weekend warrior.
Doskocil cases are available at sporting goods stores,
some Wal-Mart or Kmart stores, or on the web at Brookhurst
Hobbies.
